Not to get all picky, but a dedicated portion of a forum isn't exactly a blog. It seems to me that providing a more general forum under which users can make posts would satisfy Zasch's needs without setting the site onto a slippery slope of proliferating individual forums.
Users interested in creating a real-live blog could check out one of the many online services availble (such as Google's Blogger). These sites have become much easier to use, while being more sophisticated, in the last few years.
(I can't speak for Zasch on this one. He may really want his own area to start threads. Even if he gets that, some of the rest of us would like a place where we can post things that don't fit neatly into one of the other forums.
