A Call to Action!
Frustration
To me it is incredibly frustrating trying to convey important information which goes against the grain of commonly held beliefs. No matter how logical the arguments or the amount of factual information, if what is being conveyed does not fit into ones own reference or comfort zone (if you will) the natural tendency is to simply reject the information. Like a computer who doesn’t recognize the code or know how to classify or apply the information an error occurs. Two major contributing factors are the abysmal state of public education where the concept of logic and forming coherent arguments are not taught. The other major stumbling block it the amount of group think and censorship as well as simple disinformation streaming from our Major Media. I first became aware of the dismal state of objectivity within our news distribution system, while researching the overwhelming evidence of Media bias concerning the private ownership and use of firearms. I did not start out with the viewpoints I currently hold. It took me years and countless hours of research to form my current beliefs. I became very intrigued with a personal question. When I moved back to Utah, the State Legislature was changing Utah’s concealed carry law to a “shall issue” mode. I remember agreeing with the Major Media that this was insane. I was sure that there would be shoot-outs in the streets over road rage, minor fender benders, etc. When this didn’t happen, I began to wonder how I could have been so wrong and what lead me to such erroneous conclusions.
If there is interest on my road to Damascus I will write about that in a future article. What motivates me now is the amazing mythology regarding WMD’s in Iraq and related issues. Most of you are aware that a recent declassified report released by the National Ground Intelligent Center which states unequivocally that 500 different chemical weapons have been uncovered since the start of the Iraqi war. The abysmal manner in which the Media has dealt with this issue is astounding. Not only have they all but ignored the report, but what few attempts of wishing away the evidence is pathetic. One favorite technique has been to dismiss these weapons as ineffective. How this was determined since none of the press ever examined them or knows anything about the chemistry of chemical weapons should be a national disgrace. Another has been to assign the report to political posturing with the coming elections. You must have either a very short memory or no real conscious to work in the Major Media. An example in point was the recent revelation regarding the US government attempts to track fund raising and money transfers within Al Qaeda by the NY Times. What is truly sad is that the NY Times called for far even more stringent methods right after 9/11.
One thing that leads to a great deal of confusion is the behavior on the part of the Bush Administration. I have repeatedly been told that if all of the recovered documents were true the Bush Administration would be promoting them from the roof tops. This reveals a great deal of naiveté on the part of persons making these statements. The Bush Administration is part of a team called “the Government.” That is were their loyalties lie. A case in point would be the long delay by Mr. Negroponte (a former State Dept. official) in releasing copies of the seized documents, even after being ordered to do so by the President. At first he argued that the documents were not very relevant. When this argument was countered by then why not release them, he finally admitted that they contained embarrassing information regarding our allies (France, Russia, Germany, China etc.) Many of these documents have been reclassified after their initial release and are no longer available. Numerous sources have stated that Russia with the use of Speznaz troops helped destroy evidence and transport large amounts of WMD related material to Syria and Lebanon. Common sense would indicate that our government would be ecstatic to release such information. You have to have the mind of a bureaucrat to understand such behavior. For us normal people it is impossible to really understand this mindset yet it is provable and has been witnessed many times before.
I forget who originally said it but a truth goes like this. “The most difficult thing to open is a closed mind.”
