Recent History of Iraq (part I)

            The Major Media in this country have done a great job of keeping most Americans in the dark regarding both the issue of Iraq’s pursuit of WMD’s and especially its support of terrorism. During the start of the 1980’s Iraq under Saddam Hussein’s leadership began a crash program to develop WMD’s of all types. The evidence of this is overwhelming so I will not bother documenting this. France sold Iraq a large nuclear reactor which they clearly wanted to make atomic weapons. Fortunately Israel destroyed this facility just before it was to become operational. Israel was widely condemned for this action, but unquestionably this action saved millions of lives. Iraq then attacked Iran causing a decade’s long war where over one million fatalities occurred.  Iraq extensively used chemical weapons against Iran and its own Kurd population killing tens if not hundreds of thousands. This technology was largely supplied by Germany. They are experts at killing with chemicals.  Iraq then invaded Kuwait killing thousands of innocent civilians, taking numerous hostages (many of whom have never been heard of again) and ignored world protests. After a cease fire was signed (not a peace treaty) inspectors began to uncover a huge WMD program. Tons of chemical weapons were uncovered as well as a basically underestimated biological weapons program. Inspectors were shocked to discover how advanced Iraq was in its pursuit of nuclear weapons.

            This whole issue began a Kabuki dance that lasted for years with Iraqi officials (in clear violation of numerous UN resolutions and the original cease fire agreement) deceiving and blocking the inspectors again and again. Numerous UN resolutions were passed which Iraq was in continual violation of and Iraq was caught in numerous lies regarding stockpiled material and components which were hidden. Inspectors would show up at a facility where Iraqi officials would impede their inspections (erstwhile material was being shipped out the back of the facility) often by the truckload. Numerous defectors revealed an extensive program of deception and misinformation. Saddam Hussein tried to kill George Bush (41) during a visit to Kuwait (a clear act of war). He also engaged in a world wide campaign of terrorists’ attacks or support thereof. Numerous attacks against the US or US interests occurred.  Because the Clinton Administration did not want to become involved in foreign entanglements (recent events clearly show why) foreign involvement was covered up. Two principle state players were involved in these attacks (both Iran and Iraq) as well as coordination with terrorist organizations (including Al Qaeda, PLO etc). These attacks include the first World Trade Center bombing, the bombing of US military housing facilities in Saudi Arabia, US targets in Yemen, Jordan, Turkey etc. In addition the bombing of the laceName w:st="on">MurrahlaceName> laceName w:st="on">FederallaceName> laceType w:st="on">BuildinglaceType> in Oklahoma City assuredly involved Iraqi and possibly Iranian agents as well. TWA flight 800 was most likely downed by a shoulder fired surface to air missile. Also most likely is foreign state involvement in 9/11 as well as the following Anthrax attacks.

            Yet Leftist opponents want us to believe that Saddam Hussein voluntarily gave up his pursuit of programs to develop and stockpile WMD’s. They also conveniently ignore all of the information regarding the corruption of the UN’s Oil for Food Program which gave direct incentive for countries like Russia, Germany, France etc to block any meaningful discoveries of these attempts. There is considerable information that Russia transported large quantities of material to Syria and Lebanon during the six months leading up to operation Iraqi Freedom. Russia thoroughly understands the Left in this country and especially our press. They have manipulated them like they did during the cold war which doesn’t even seem to dawn on these stooges.

            Two understand why the Bush Administration hasn’t revealed this, it is necessary to understand government bureaucracies and especially government intelligence agencies mindsets. These people see no need to expose any information which they have discovered (with the exception of embarrassing the President and effecting current foreign policy). CYA is the name of the game and these people are not motivated or controlled by morals. The CIA and the State Department have been overrun by liberals for decades. They have been constantly undermining US Foreign Policy decisions since Bush (43) was elected. They have many friends in the Major Media and they have worked together to accomplish this. Has anyone shown any evidence of the so called CIA secret prisons? A Pulitzer Prize was awarded for this story without any evidence to back up the claims made. In a more sane world critics would have a field day with this issue, but the Media is terrible when it comes to policing its own.

            In my next article, I will go into great detail how Saddam supported terrorism throughout the world. This is an issue which is repeatedly ignored by the Leftist Press.
