 Flag Day!

On this day, June 14, 1777 the Marine Committee of the Continental Congress passed a resolution which lead to the creation of the American flag. This resolution read “Resolved that the Flag of the United States be made of 13 stripes, alternating red and white; that the union be 13 stars, white in a blue field, representing a new constellation.”

On May 30 1916, President Woodrow Wilson announced during his Memorial Day address, that 14 June of each year would be celebrated as Flag Day. “This flag, which we honor and under which we serve, is the emblem of our unity, our power, our thought and purpose as a nation. It has no other character than that which we give it from generation to generation… Though silent, it speaks to us-speaks to us of the past, of the men and women who went before us, and of the records they wrote upon it.”

I pray that this emblem of freedom wave free for many more generations. I fear that many if not most, are unaware and maybe unworthy of the sacrifices which have been made for all of us, by greater men and women than I.

Peace

Wow, another Flag Day! Does this mean that they're changing the ASCII set again?
