Jamming!
In his new book “The Marketing of Evil” by David Kupelian, the author reveals a long term strategy proposed by two marketers. Marshal Kirk and Hunter Madsen put into book form their ideas on how to promote the pro-homosexual agenda. Their strategy can be reduced to three concepts. These are Desensitize, Jamming and Conversion. I want to talk about the concept of Jamming and how prevalent it has become. In today’s HJ (6/6/6) there is an article (A2) about pro immigration activists jamming those on the other side by implying there motives are racist! First I would like to point out that today’s journalists place their own opinion in articles which are supposed to be objective. That is not what reporting is supposed to be about. That is why newspapers, etc. have editorial opinion pages. But more and more we are subjected to slanted articles disguising themselves as objective news.
This article implies that those of us that are concerned about illegal immigration in this country are motivated by racism. This is classic a “Jamming” technique. Basically defined as psychological terrorism meant to silence expression of or even support for dissenting opinions. Leftist use this technique all of the time. Be racist, homophobe, sexists, etc., it is a way of ending a debate immediately without having to really argue the facts of a case. It has proven very effective in achieving its aims for many causes. The aforementioned article is a classic example of Jamming in that it strongly implies racism as the soul motive for objections to illegal immigration without really dealing with the issues. Notice also that the author only quotes from sources which support his or her opinion. These techniques can be very settle but also very effective. It requires someone who is familiar with these techniques to usually spot them.
How could the profession of journalism become so detached from its stated purpose? Because in the 60’s is became very fashionable to be an activist. Journalists believe that they are morally superior to the rest of us and therefore have a moral obligation to guide us into their version of enlightenment. Supporting causes like homosexual rights, pro feminism, pro abortion etc. Because they have become so programmed by this thought, it doesn’t even occur to them that what they are doing is wrong and in violation of the founding principle of their professions. There is also a great deal of pressure from their peers to conform. Judith Miller was an outstanding journalist who worked for the New York Times. She was directly involved in the so called Plame affair which I have previously written about. When it became known that she had used sources within the Bush Administration for some of her stories, she was forced out of her job. To me this is overwhelming proof of an incredible bias within the media, yet no one within the industry made even a peep. The same people who go apoplectic whenever they feel that they are being intimidated do not hesitate to intimidate their own if it serves their purpose. It was recently revealed that the ACLU has implemented censorship policies within their own organization to prevent employees from voicing opinions which were not in keeping with the management.
One of the principle concepts of psychology is projection. That is we often project out the issues with which we struggle within. Intolerance is probably the best example of this occurring within groups, especially the leftists.
