A CALL TO ACTION!
Take a Stand
Comparisons are often useful but very unpopular with the PC crowd. I submit that there are two kinds of people. Those who believe that this life is but a blink of an eye and those who believe that we only get one shot and should live for today. I am very much with the first group. I think that the purpose of life is to take a stand or make choices. An ancient group which existed about the time of Christ, known as the essenes, used the term children of darkness vs. children of the light. Al Qaeda leaders tell us why they believe they will eventually win, by saying you love life, while we love death. It has taken me quite a while to fully understand what they are saying. They mean that we love life so much that we will not take a stand, fight for what we think is right and that they are more than willing to give their lives. I believe that this is true for Western Europe, but think that when Americans finally understand what is at stake here, what our enemies are really all about that we will fight to the end. There is an old saying: it is better to die on your feet than to live on your knees! Liberals would say to this that this is an exaggeration. That things are not nearly that bad. Ultimately that is why I am not a liberal.
I believe that we will all be judged by what we think, say and do in this life. That how one treated others and what one did with ones life, the small things not the big is what matters. God does not care whether you are famous, rich or powerful. Only what you have done with what you have been given. The hand you have been dealt. America has done more for the cause of freedom than any other nation. Yes we have made many mistakes but when push came to shove we have always made the right choices. It has often been estimated that during the American Revolution only about one third of the people supported the revolution, another one third supported the king and one third didn’t care. To me things seem like that today. The numbers might be different but those who are willing to take a stand are definitely a minority. That is how it should be. It is easy to make choices when everyone around you believes the same. There is comfort in numbers. This goes back to the beginning and is in our genes. Only those with courage, who stand up and say you will not cross this line, are the courageous ones. Who are willing to put their lives on the line if need be, to risk it all, to pay the last full measure.
These are very confusing times. I have many Quaker friends. While I do not agree with them I admire their commitment. It is those who take the easy road, that are not willing to take risks, whom sit on the sidelines and belittle the players, which I find at fault. The lack of moral clarity in this world today is the real challenge. I hear people all of the time say that war solves nothing. It sure seemed to end the Nazis of Germany and Italy and Imperialist aims of Japan. If there is nothing worth fighting for, then there is really nothing worth living for. It is better to taste the bitter fruit of failure than to cower in the corner. Take a Stand!
