Wow! I was very happy to attend the Hill Air Force Base Air Show yesterday! http://www.hill.af.mil/pa/airshow2006/

tb2006.JPG

It was truly one of the best Air Shows I have ever seen! There were many private owners showing off and demonstrating their plains. The US Air force Demonstrated their new F-22 Raptor, it is a sweet plane! I saw many F-16 demonstrations as well as the Thunderbird's! The F-16 is my favorite! My favorite flight was the heritage flyby. They had 4 representative generations of war birds all the way back to a WWII plane up to today's F-16 and F-22 flying side by side. That one brought tears to my eyes.

I can't help myself from asking, why don't we have an Air Show in Logan anymore? Don't get me wrong, Ogden Utah, Layton, Utah is not very far to drive. I will always attend the show at Hill AFB. (I wish they would have it every year instead of every two years) It's just that Logan Use to have a great air show at the Logan Cache airport. The US Air Force would bring up and demonstrate many of their plains for almost a full week. Many private owners of planes would come and be part of the show as well. This happened in Logan, yes Logan! They had full dog fights, real bombing runs, stunt demonstrations and much more. It was much like the Hill AFB show. The show was second only to Hill AFB as far as Utah goes! It's so sad that the show is no more.

Logan has gone so far off the map as far as real entertainment over the last 12 years, this is so sad. The reason is because Logan City and Cache County have taken all of the entertainment out of private hands and made it their own responsibility which it isn't! The F-16 388th fighter wing from Hill use to fly over Romney Stadium during the fireworks show. I have not seen them for over 10 years. Rumor has it that “they were offensive to those who want peace.” Logan has become so disconnected with real entertainment. Instead of F-16 flybys, 4th of July Parades and Gladys Knight as pre-show entertainment in the stadium like in Provo and Salt Lake, we have no fly over, a USU Aggie Parade and the Cache Cloggers as pre-show entertainment!

It is like heaven forbid that we should ever see military jets perform or even fly over Logan during a special event like the 4th of July or even a local Air Show perhaps. As I watched our Air Force and NAVY perform yesterday at Hill AFB with their magnificent power, love for America, skill and precision, I was so proud to be an America! It's hard not to feel pride for our Country under this setting. Every American, including Cache Valley residents should have the chance to have this experience from time to time. This experience is also important so that we remember to respect America and our Military. In Logan, many people seem to be more intrested in USU Aggie football and creating "open space."  Time for a change!

It's time to put local entertainment coordination and production back into the hands of local private production companies. The City and County can and should still be a sponsor. I want to see a good Air Show back at the Logan Cache Airport. It would also be good to see some patriotism shown in Logan like it is shown in Provo during the 4th of July. A good 4th of July Parade and some improvements to the Fireworks show entertainment and fireworks would be a good thing!

Perhaps Logan couldn't handle the however many thousands of people went and HAFB is a much more central location. It was an awesome show but the road was slow getting there and we had to park a mile away from the enterance gate. Overall they did a great job running it.

Great show! I would love to see a show like that in Logan.
